Skiers with Mont Blanc behind  Boarder getting some phat air...  Chamonix piste map

Skiing & boarding
Chamonix is the home of mountain and winter sports. It hosted the first-ever Winter Olympics and occupies a special place in many a skier or boarder's heart.
It boasts some of the best on- and off-piste terrain in the world, overlooked by Europe's most spectacular mountains, the Mont Blanc massif.
Where can I show off those sexy turns?
As you'll see by clicking the piste map above, there are several distinct ski areas in the valley - with something for everyone. Ski buses to all areas depart from just outside the front door.
Brévent and Flégère offer two linked zones, accessible via Brévent, the in-town cable car, a 5 minute drive or 10 minute walk from Base Camp.
Domaine de Balme (Le Tour), is at the upper end of the valley, basking in the sun. The opening of a new lift 8-person bubble lift from Vallorcine in December 2004, has improved accessibility and provides to ski-in, ski-out access to the fantastic station café in Vallorcine.
The Grands Montets hill above Argentière is perhaps Chamonix's most famous skiing mountain - offering a phenomenal amount of easily accessible off-piste terrain.
Europe's longest ski run is on the doorstep: the Aiguille du Midi provides access to the world's most famous off-piste run, the Vallée Blanche. The cable car is a 5 minute walk from Base Camp.
Les Houches offers comfortable tree skiing and some less demanding runs lower down the valley.
Chamonix is also a convenient base for visiting other nearby resorts, including Verbier, Courmayeur, Mégève, Morzine/Avoriaz and Flaine.
